Decimo: Our greatest challenge yet

So that’s what we’ve been up to!

Since early this year we have been working alongside our friend Michelin-starred Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias to design some timeless pieces for his exciting new venture, Decimo.

The time has now come that we can shout about it!

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Pete for the past 10 or so years with his restaurants Casamia & more recently, Paco Tapas to create unique pieces to showcase his wonderful culinary creations. So when he asked us to join him on this exciting new project we were beyond thrilled. Over the past 5 months we have been working all hours to complete a grand total of nearly 1600 pieces for the new spanish/mexican restaurant situated on the 10th floor of The Standard hotel, London.

With 9 variations to the collection, we have designed closely with Pete to create the timeless pieces he envisioned to complete his idea of the sky high dining experience.

After the first few weeks Jen and I (Sian) were both on and off ill and we thought this mammoth task had broken us right from the first hurdle but luckily after some adjusting (and a little holiday!) we came back ready to face the task.

As a commission much larger than we have had in the past it has allowed us to grow our team and challenged us to come up with time saving tricks and adaptations. Many, many more shelves have been put up to accommodate the thrown, drying, dried, glazing and finished pots at all their stages and Jen has never made so many pieces in a sitting, up to 100 in 1 day at her highest!! 5 kilns on a week for a good proportion and so, so much sanding!

Many of you saw the studio in varying states of chaos when coming for lessons, but now that it’s done and customers are visiting Decimo, eating their gorgeous food off our plates, we are so proud of Jen and the amazing things she has accomplished... looking forward to whats next!
